Succulent Gardens – Ideas and Pictures

Succulent plants

A succulent plant is one that can live with very very little water, like cactii.
I’ve heard that succulents are extremely relaxing as they don’t need much maintenance. You don’t need to water very often, and the plants lend a relaxing atmosphere.

With a garden like this you might not even need a watering hose ?

Just kidding, we all need that basic garden accessory, even if only to clean up and spray the path from time to time.

Winter Break – Spring Thaw – A Poem

Winter Break
by Dan P.

Not a vacationג€¦ A Break,
Winter shackles unbridled,
harsh greys splatting blues,
Yes, Winter releases.
The bones slightly brittle,
time to skadittle,
break free from Winterג€¦

Why are Cordless Electric Mowers the Best Choice?

Gas powered lawn mowers have so many disadvantages; they are dirty, noisy, smelly and require a ton of greasy, oily maintenance… yuk.

Electric Lawn Mowers

Electric mowers are quiet, require very little maintenance and are very affordable; Electricity costs can be as little as $10-20 per year.
The biggest disadvantage of electric mowers, however, is the cord. A large lawn requires a long extension cord that gets in the way while you are mowing the lawn. A cordless electric mower allows you to cut anywhere without worrying about the cord.

Start Growing your Tomato Plants Indoors

My favorite vegetable is definitely tomatoes. I love the succulent red goodness, and I know the vitamin C within will rejuvenate my aging cells. I equally despise buying tomatoes in the supermarket. Often, the shipped-in produce is l rock hard and green. Even if I let it ripen for a week or two, there is never the natural goodness of home grown tomato plants.

May is probably the best time to plant your tomato plants, just before the warm weather. Be sure that the morning frost has past or to be really safe, start your tomato seedlings indoors, on the window sill in an area that receives plenty of morning sun.

How to grow Tomato Plants from Seeds

Most home gardeners have this crop in their garden, Tomatoes. Sunlight, patience and enough water is all thatג€™s needed for success, really.

Tomato plants are wonderful to grow in the summer. Check with your local nursery or other websites to find the most hardy and disease-resistant variety of tomato plants. Mix the soil with compost and rotten manure and super phosphates for optimal growth. Another balanced fertilizer would be 6:3:2 which should be mixed well with the soil before the process. If you have no access to fresh manure, consider using a suitable balanced fertilizer, or use your vacuum cleaner fluff, as posted here.

Plant the tomato seeds in a sheltered and frost-free place, inside on your window sill perhaps. When the seedlings are about 10-15 cm in height, they can safely be transplanted. Choose only the strongest tomato plants. Water with a fine spray early in the morning. For optimal growth, insure that the tomato plants receive maximum sunlight. Plant in cages or special stakes to support vertical growth.

Protect your Tomato Plants from Killer Ants…

In the following gardening tip video, we learn a simple method to rid yourself of a common garden pest: ants, even killer ants, yikes. Simply mix one part sugar with one part borax, a common laundry aid, and sprinkle. This effective ant poison will be picked up by the worker ants, who will then hand-deliver the laced poison to the queen ant. Sprinkle this mixture wherever you have ant problems, and watch your tomato plants flourish, undisturbed from the nasty ants.

Problem solved.
