Cigarttte Butts helps make Organic Pesticide
By DanP | June 4, 2008
You may want to try this home made organic pesticide if you see little critters eating your fine organic plants.
First collect lots of old cigarette butts and toss them into a pot of water which is brought to a boil. Then add lots of crushed garlic and misc spices and continue to boil for five minutes or so. This is best done outside on a camping stove since the mixture really stinks. After the mess cools a bit, strain it through a sive or colander. Best to use old pots and utensils since you don’t want to contaminate your food with this mixture.
After it cools completely, put the liquid into a squeeze bottle, the kind with a trigger that pumps a spray or mist. Then thoroughly mist or spray the plants that are infested. You’ll find that the bugs don’t like this stuff any more than you do.
The mix is organic, won’t penetrate the plants and infect the fruit or veggies, and helps recycle these awful cigarette butts.
Of course, companion planting, and the careful positioning of aromatic herbs among your veggies can also deter the bugs.
