How to Store your Tomato Seeds
By DanP | April 14, 2008
The best place to store tomato seeds is in the refrigerator, or freezer. I prefer the fridge as I don’t plan to store the seeds for decades. Use a larger Zip Loc Bag, sprinkling in a bit of dry powdered milk or a silicon absorbing sack, to help absorb moisture. Place your seeds in smaller Ziploc baggies. This should nicely preserve the seeds and prevent them from getting moisture and germinating prematurely. Then place the whole pack inside a bubble mailer envelope held tightly with a rubber band, and place in safe place in your fridge. This method works:
- Cool and dry put the embryo into a suspended animations state, preserving stored sugars.
- This simple method will give you healthy germinating seeds for up to 10 years!
