Grow Early, Grow Lettuce
By admin | March 2, 2008
Get started gardening earlier this year by growing your own lettuce. Lettuce is one of the earliest vegetables you can plant. The seed won’t germinate if the ground is excessively cold and damp, but young seedlings can be put out before the last frost, as long as you protect them with a row cover in the evening. I’ve even grown lettuce in pots, under lights, and then moved it outdoors during cool spring days. Give growing lettuce a try. That pale, green ball in the grocery store is just the tip of the iceberg.
