Spring Gardening Season

By admin | April 30, 2006

It seems Spring is truly here !

Nielsen / NetRatings have released thier web data report for March showing a sharp increase in many Home & Garden online retailers. (see excert of data below)

What that mean for you and I. Well if you browse some of these websites now you’ll begin to see new products hitting the market, like the new Outdoor Garden Sink by Hydro, and a host of special offers by leading retailers.

Now is certainly the time to begin thinking about replacing that aging gardening equipment. The hose reel with holes, the wheelbarrow with a broken wheel. Spring is the season that kick starts the sales and offers. Spring is the chance to begin planning your garden theme and style for the year ahead.

Visits increased at nine of the top 10 home and garden sites in March, led by ServiceMagic, which experienced a 179% increase to 2.6 million from 933,000 a year earlier, according to Nielsen/NetRatings.

IKEA posted the second largest increase, with visits rising 92% to 2.3 million from 1.2 million a year earlier; followed by Home Shopping Network, up 52% to 3.5 million from 2.3 million; eBay Crafts, up 32% to 4.5 million from 3.4 million; Lowe’s, up 29% to 7.6 million from 5.9 million; The Home Depot, up 27% to 9.5 million from 7.5 million; eBay, up 22% to 13.1 million from 10.7 million; DIY Network, up 20% to 3 million from 2.5 million; and HGTV-Home and Garden Television, up 8% to 5.4 million from 5 million.

Only one home and garden site experienced a loss. At Pottery Barn, visits dropped 5% to 1.9 million from 2 million.

The top site in number of visits was eBay Home, followed by The Home Depot, Lowe’s, HGTV-Home & Garden Television, eBay Crafts, Home Shopping Network, DIY Network, ServiceMagic, IKEA and Pottery Barn.

So… HAPPY GARDENING AND HAPPY SHOPPING FOR THAT GARDENING DEAL !!
